Meet your representatives

Lisa Tina Compton

My name is Lisa Compton and I’m happy to be standing for re-election as Parent Representative for the Board of Trustees. My husband and I have 4 children, 1 currently at Albany Junior High School, one to join AJHS in 2021 and we have two sons at ASHS. My background is varied, I bought my own business (a café) when I was 19 and since then have been involved in a number of businesses both food and commerce related. Currently I contract to a company working with year 12 and 13 students all over the North Shore and West Auckland, helping them to achieve their level 2 and 3 credits towards NCEA. This allows me to work with a large number of high schools and experience the way they work with their students and the opportunities given to them. It has been a very interesting role and one I thoroughly enjoy. Our students at AJHS deserve the right to be able to attempt, achieve and succeed in what is often a confounding environment. I’d like to be able to continue my work with the board of Albany Junior High, empowering each learner to excel in a fast moving world.

Fran Dowson

My name is Fran Dowson and I am standing for the Board of Trustees for Albany Junior High. I have been part of the Albany community for 12 years and involved in the education sector for over twenty. I am a widowed parent and have a son who went through AJHS and who is currently attending ASHS.

I have been on the AJHS Board for six years and am a strong supporter of the Junior High School model and I am particularly interested in the unique opportunities it presents for our children.

I originally trained as a high school teacher and taught at Macleans College in Auckland before moving overseas and working in London, eventually joining the senior management team of a boys’ high school. After I moved to New York I became a USA registered teacher and worked as a tutor in a variety of educational settings.

I then took a break from teaching and gained operational experience running the administrative side of the New Zealand Consulate and Trade Development Board in New York.

Since my return to New Zealand I have been working at Upper Harbour Primary and in recent years have moved into the role of Special Educational Needs coordinator(SENCo) while attending Massey University to complete my Masters in specialist teaching with a focus on students with autism.

I think it is fair to say I have seen a range of education systems from those that are excellent to ones that are very challenging. The one thing every school I have had contact with has had in common is dedicated teachers who have needed the support of their board and community to meet the varied needs of their students.

I believe that all of these experiences have given me a range of skills to bring to the AJHS Board of Trustees as well as my enthusiasm and passion to see our children grow in confidence and independence. I am a firm believer in the importance of strong communication between families and their school as well as recognising the need to listen to the voices of the students themselves. The school has built a strong foundation over the past decade and I would like to be a part of helping it to continue to build community links and be celebrated as a school that seeks to explore and encourage each student’s personal potential whatever that may be.

Stuart Vaughan Tabuteau

I’m born and bred on the North Shore and after having returned from 4 years overseas, settled in Greenhithe to start a family. My twin daughters are currently in year 9 at AJHS. I recently completed the Future Auckland Leaders programme which reignited my passion for giving back to the community. My background is in accounting, finance and property. For the last 13 years I have been working for Kiwi Property, New Zealand’s largest listed property company, and for the past four years I have been their Chief Financial Officer. My governance experience comes from both being on the ‘other side of the fence’, interacting with the Kiwi Property board for the past 4 years as a key member of the management team, as well as spending 7 years as the Treasurer of Glenfield Tennis Club. I’m excited about having the opportunity to help shape the future of AJHS.
